Meet Ali Horuz of VIP Outdoor Media in Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Horuz.

Ali, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, American Dream Creator, Real Estate Investor.

I came to the United States in 2003, speaking no English and with $500 in my pocket and turned it into a multimillion-dollar business. Two years later, with boasting strong entrepreneurial skills and the focused mindset required to become a successful businessman, I successfully opened VIP Pedicab and VIP Outdoor Media, in one of the most sought-after markets in the country, beautiful San Diego. I started with one Pedicab in 2005, and by 2009, had grown my business to become San Diego’s largest Pedicab company.

My drive does do not stop there, however, as I continue to invest in real estate, flip properties and expand my business and real estate portfolio. I also believe in educating other entrepreneurs how to do the same. My most rewarding philanthropic venture has been Epic Mastermind Experience, a three-day mastermind that brings sought-after speakers from around the country to educate, motivate and inspire entrepreneurs of all ages and backgrounds. As a co-founder and active partner, I have had the opportunity and ability to change the lives of hundreds in just the three years that this event has gone on. My goal is to change millions of lives with the help my team and others.

And last but not least, of course, my next step is to take it all to the next level by writing a book about my story that will help inspire, encourage and teach others that even from the bottom, you can build your way to the top. You just have to believe it in and never allow failure to be an option.

Has it been a smooth road?

Over the 15 years that I have been in the US, I have encountered many struggles. One thing I will say is being an entrepreneur is not for the weak. You will learn things about yourself that you would have never known otherwise. You take risks that you never thought you would take. Some pay off and some, well they just become lessons and you move on. One of my greatest struggles was when I thought I was finally make a big step and taking a huge leap in my business in 2011, I ended up being sued.

Now, this may sound terrible, and trust me it was, but it came because I was trusting the wrong person. I had naively signed papers to purchase a company but didn’t read the fine print. With that being said, once I found out what was actually happening, I broke the contract because what was being done was morally wrong. But because a contract is a contract, I got sued for breaking it. I ended up paying more in the long run with the lawyer’s fee’s and what I owed.

This became a down point for me as a business owner. I had lost trust, questioned my abilities to run a company and if I made the right choices at the end of the day. What I knew though, is I was meant to get back up and fight for my dreams, and that is exactly what I did.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the VIP Outdoor Media story. Tell us more about the business.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?

Hmm, good question. There are many changes that have happened since I started VIP Outdoor Media and VIP Pedicab. I plan to continue to revolutionize this industry in many ways but for now, I have to keep those secret.
